What is the minimum order quantity for prototype CNC turning?
There is no minimum order quantity. We quote and produce single-piece prototypes. Pricing for one piece is naturally higher per part than production, but we do not require a minimum to begin the relationship.
How quickly can RPM quote a prototype turned part?
We respond to prototype quote requests within 24 hours of receiving a dimensioned drawing or CAD file. For parts with unusual geometry or material requirements, we may ask clarifying questions before pricing.
What file formats does RPM accept for prototype quotes?
We accept 2D PDF drawings, DXF and DWG, and 3D CAD files in STEP and IGES format. A dimensioned 2D PDF is sufficient for most prototype quotes.
Can RPM produce prototypes in the same material as the production specification?
Yes. We source production-grade material in prototype quantities. If your production part specifies 17-4 PH stainless, Grade 5 titanium, or PEEK, we produce your prototype in the same material not a substitute.
